Enjoy the safest whitewater rafting in Costa Rica. This new class II+ section on the Reventazón river will provide you with the thrill of rafting, get you wet and all while keeping you safely in your boat. This trip is designed for people of all ages as you paddle on the wide-open waters of the river thru small waves with little maneuvering. As you progress down river the pools become longer where you can rest and observe a number of birds in their tropical habitat.
The drive from San Jose takes you through the impressive Braulio Carrillo National Park, past rainforest and waterfalls across the Continental Divide to the Caribbean side of the country. Once at the Operations Center you will be provided with breakfast. You will alos find bathrooms, changing rooms and an area to buy last minute needs.
You will be on the river between 1 ½ to 2 hours depending on water levels and taking out at the Chiquita brand banana plantations. After a fun and relaxing day you’ll finish your trip with a stop at the Operations Center for a delicious hot lunch, showers, optional drinks and souvenir store before the return drive to San José. This one-day adventure is unforgettable!
NOTE: This trip will be run with the same equipment and safety regulations as we use on or Class III-IV tours. The rapids for Class II + have very little inherent risk and allow us to invite participants from 7 years old to 99

Swimming experience is required

Difficulty:
Easy rapids,Class II+ waves up to three feet, and wide, clear channels that are obvious without scouting; some maneuvering is required.
Rafting distance: 8 miles
River time: From 1-1/2 to 3 hours – depending on water level.
Recommended Gear:
Rubber-soled shoes that can get wet (Tevas, tennis shoes, booties or similar); Swimsuit / swim trunks; shorts of a quick-drying material; hat with a brim for sun; towel; waterproof sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher; Croakies or straps to secure glasses. T-shirt is optional. Bring an extra change of dry clothes for after rafting.

Approximate Itinerary:
6:00-7:00 a.m. Morning pick-ups at San José hotels. (Varies according to hotel location).
8:15 a.m. Arrive at our new Operation Center for breakfast.
9:30 a.m. Depart for Rio Reventazón (10 minutes).
10:00 a.m. Arrival at Rio Reventazón. Clients are outfitted with lifejackets, helmets and paddles. Clients are divided into raft teams and given paddling instruction.
10:45 a.m. Begin rafting.
1:15 p.m. Finish rafting. Drive to Operations Center.
1:30 p.m. Arrive at our Operation Center for hot lunch and full salad bar.
2:30 p.m. Depart Operation Center area for San José.
4:30 p.m. Arrival at San José hotels (varies according to hotel location).
