Full and Half Day Osa Peninsula Rain forest Tours

On the Osa Peninsula Rain forest Tours you will have the opportunity to explore one of the most bio-diverse area of rain forest in Costa Rica. On a full-day hike with us, you will see more animals than going into Corcovado National Park. We guarantee that you will see scarlet macaws and three different kinds of monkeys, although on most days we see all four types (Spider, Howler, White Faced and Squirrel Monkeys).

You will hike through private trails that are part of the largest private reserve in Costa Rica. This is the best tour in all of Costa Rica. You will see beautiful waterfalls, virgin rain forest, beaches for swimming or exploring, tidal pools, the most concentrated amount of wildlife in the whole country. Lunch with a simple Tico family is included along with transportation. This is a birder's dream come true. A knowledgeable guide will tell you the history of the Osa, and will explore how the different ecosystems work, as well as medicinal and local uses of different plants and animals.

The standard hike takes you through virgin rainforest where the animals are very active. You will hike up rivers to reach beautiful waterfalls with sitting pools under them. You will have the privilege of enjoying each pool with a natural massage from the falling water. During the rainy season you will see a waterfall that is over 100 ft high, named "King Louie's".

Your hike will begin at the top of a mountain and will continue along ridge lines and down trails that are in virgin rainforest. You will see giant trees and have a chance to seea variety of wildlife such as: pizotes, sloths, anteaters, tayras, armadillos, toucans, and so much more. After exploring the primary jungle, you will continue your walk through secondary rainforest along the nicest surf beaches here.

You will stop and enjoy typical Costa Rican lunch with a simple Tico family. After lunch, you will be able to explore beaches and look for more wildlife.

Tours leave at 6:00 am, and return to town at 3:00 or 4:00 pm. The taxi ride is 45 min. each way. During this trip we can show you all the lodges and small inns in Matapalo in case you decide to change plans and stay in this area.

Our guides will have binoculars for your use, and go out of their way to make this a very educational and memorable trip. Hikes are geared to each group and their interests and their level of fitness. We have eight different hikes depending on what the group wants to see the most of. The trips can be from relaxing to adventurous.

The full day hike comes with lunch and snacks.
